Fixes/User feedback

I've been getting my @$$ kicked for the past couple weeks and continuing to challenge myself with the project. Did I go beyond my limit for the amount of time I have to finish???

On the plus side, I was able to research and gather enough information throughout the project........

Persona/Research

What are personas?
-Hypothetical archetypes, or "stand-ins" for actual users that drive the decision making for interface design projects.
-Not real people, but they represent real people throughout the design process.
-Not "made up"; they are discovered as a by-product of the investigative process.
-Although they are imaginary, they are defined with significant rigor and precision.
-Names and personal details are made up for personas to make them more realistic.
-Are defined by their goals.
-Interfaces are built to satisfy their needs and goals.

Meet my Persona:
Hannah is an active 9yr girl who loves nature, sports, and being a girly girl by dressing up her dolls.
She is the eldest is a great role model to her sister and brother.
She does well in school and is very obedient from her parents.
She loves playing kids games online. One of her favorite website for games is pbskids.org
Sometime she would spend hours online playing games, depending on the difficulty and how well she understands the concept.
She is definitely a visual type of girl because she doesn't read the directions everytime.

According to Hannah's description. The main goal is to design something that is simple and easy to follow. Pictures and moving visuals will be included to gain her attention. Since she does well in school, she is most likely interested in learning new stuff. Detailed and straightforward content will be kept in mind as well when putting this project together.

Solar System Project headache

The time has come but unfortunately my project didn't go through as I would like...for now. I started with creating this project using the timeline for animation and scripting. I wanted to put myself in a great challenge by creating everthing dynamically, limiting myself from using the timeline, and gather data through XML...Why did I decide to do this??? I don't know, but there's no turning back.

COLOR MATCH GAME

Bored? Want something to entertain you for a while? Play the Color Match Game I made for touchscreen development.

Try to match and align all the colors according to the boxes on the left column with the white border...

My best time so far: 12.6 sec. I've watch someone do it in 11.9 sec.

Can you beat that???
Give it a try: PLAY

Project to date - Interactive Solar System

So much more to do!!!

I'm pretty much done with the research as far as the information about each of the planets.

Here's the main interface of my project:
Solar System Orbit

Each planet will be a button; when clicked, it goes to the page of the planet, the user will be able to click and rotate the planet to get a closer look.

Something like this: View planet

Next step:
- Pictures of each of the planets.
- Execute!
- Add sounds.

California Academy of Sciences

What a beautiful day it was! Jeremy, Neil, and I were so excited we planned to get there early. We even went and had breakfast to prepare ourselves for this exciting trip. Being my first time, I didn't really know what to expect...

As soon as we get there all we saw was the long line wrapped around the block, fortunately we ran into Lauren who had been there since 8:30AM. If we hadn't seen her we probably would have been stuck and waited for loooong time in the back of the line. Thank you Lauren!!! While waiting in line we saw Nick and decided to join us.

This museum really brings the whole universe under one roof - an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and more!

The 3D bug show was fun to watch. They added drama and humor throughout the show to keep the audience entertained rather than just following bugs around with the camera.

The planetarium was another interesting show. I loved how it started showing the museum and zooms out to space, the solar system, the galaxy...

Interactive Solar System

Goal for this project:
Entertain the visitor. Construct innovative navigation, novel and inspired transitions, entertaining, and interesting content.

I am going to challenge myself by trying something new to me: Papervision, Away3D, XML data... I also hope to increase my knowledge and experience with AS3 throughout this project.
